Meet Lauchlan Davis: Artist and Business Owner

Lauchlan Davis is a Tennessee native, artist, and the owner of Lauchlan Studio, a fine art and interior decor studio in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She has a background in art history and has funneled her passion for art, color, and beauty into her own paintings, observing “the confluence of landscape and culture within the local imagination of the American South.” 

A prolific painter, she has produced more than three-hundred oil paintings since she earned her degree from the University of Virginia in 2018. She is primarily self taught and committed to learning her craft through practice and patience, experimenting with a number of different painting styles in order to explore her own personal artistic voice. 

Lauchlan’s Artistic Style

About her own artistic style, she says: 

“Currently, my paintings focus on the nature of community – the dynamic relationships between different personas and how these interactions tell a story. I combine elements from several painting styles to make something entirely new. I use the tilted perspectives and puzzle of shapes in Abstraction to create dynamic compositions. Then I employ the bright tones and thickly textured brushwork of Impressionism to create movement within the forms. Lastly, I strive for the quirky imperfections of Folk Art to let each painting tell a story. This intersection of styles result in a wild combination of distinct characters set within our contemporary local moment celebrating togetherness, difference, and whimsicality.”
